Based in the Twin Cities, Charlie wears many media hats including play-by-play broadcaster, radio and television producer, and writer. His diverse broadcast credits include coverage of Baseball, Basketball, Football, Hockey, Lacrosse and Soccer at the High School, Collegiate, and Professional levels. In addition, he has contributed to broadcasts of the Masters, NFL and the Winter Olympic Games.
Charlie began his broadcasting career while at The George Washington University, voicing GW Men's and Women's basketball games for the campus radio station, ultimately providing play-by-play for the Men's Atlantic-10 tournament championship in 2005. During his senior year, he also contributed to commercial broadcasts of GW Men's basketball for WMET-Washington, DC, serving as a broadcast engineer, color analyst, and halftime host.
The St. Paul, MN native also covered Bowie Baysox (AA-Baltimore Orioles) baseball games during the summer months during his collegiate career.
His professional broadcasting career began working as a producer for CBS Sports/Westwood One in Washington DC, where he also provided select on-air contributions.
Since leaving Washington, DC, he served one season as the play-by-play voice/media relations director for the WIlson (North Carolina) Tobs baseball club of the Coastal Plain League before returning to Minnesota. He served two seasons 2008 & 2010 as the no. 2 voice of the St. Paul Saints, and during the 2008 season he also served as the lead radio play-by-play voice of the American Association All-Star Game.
He currently serves as a producer/writer/reporter for "Minnesota Prep Spotlight," covering all aspects of high school sports in Minnesota. He also serves as a play-by-play voice and sideline reporter for Channel 45's award-winning coverage of Minnesota's high school football "Prep Bowl" as well as the prestigious Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournament. Finally, he covers an array of sports for Division III Augsburg University, broadcasting football, basketball, hockey, soccer, volleyball, baseball and softball.
